Located on a large semi rural site north of Wellington this house provides a secluded retreat for its busy owners.
Set on undulating sand dunes the house connects strongly with its landscape. Hinuera stone walls at the entry are intentionally solid, extending out of the land, acting as a barrier between the public and personal life of its owners. Adjacent to this wall, the house cantilevers out over a lake seeming to defy gravity.
Beyond this façade solidity gives way to transparency. Living and bedroom spaces open to a central terrace and pool area maximising sun and privacy.
Gently curving roofs float lightly above the solid walls creating interesting changes in space and light throughout the house. The interior is contemporary and includes state of the art technology.
